7.3 diesel why is it hard to start?
it will start with silicon spay it will run great but when I turn it off for a brief 15min , silicon spray to start I been looking at the glow plugs but I think its is my fuel system I read or hear at I am losing pressure and it needs help pressurized it ,what are they talking about help
most common no start problem with the 7.3 is glow plug components, especially if spray starts the engine, especially as temps are cooler
if the wait to start light stays on for less than 7 seconds there is a fault, ideal is 13 when cold
after the light goes out is there a clicking noise? if not, you may need a glow plug controller
what year is it, turbo or NA, E Series or F
I'm guessing 89 NA E
also, check that the fuel check valve is not clogged, there's a fuel return hose coming off the top of the fuel filter assy, take the hose off and crank the engine, Fuel should flow out that valve -pinpoint stream. if not, its clogged. its a one-way valve designed to vent air out of the fuel system. if you have air in the system, you might mimmic low fuel pressure problems as the air compresses
