99 ford expedition transmission?
hi, my mom bought a 1999 ford expedition 134k miles from a auction for $1800 and she had to replace the engine with one that had 60 miles on it for $ $1400 now the mechanic is telling her she has to buy a new tranmission,, a whole one!! which is like another $1200 maybe more,, its a 1999 silver 4 door v8 engline 3rd row seating,, no leather seats,, if my mother gets a transmission how much do you think the car will go for??? and can you please give me some places online where i can buy a transmission!!! al our money went to this crappy car!!
If the trans needs to be replaced, as opposed to rebuilt, any transmission repair shop, or your local Ford dealer, should be able to get you what you need. If you end up spending $2500 on a new trans, you'll have spent a total of $5,700. I'm not sure if you've seen how much new cars cost these days, but I think that's a pretty freaking great deal on a car that's mechanically new. Of course I can't see the condition of the paint and interior, but for less than 6 grand on an Expedition is a really good deal. Still, I have to wonder if anyone is properly diagnosing the problems, or if they're taking advantage of you.
