Lariat Diesel

I own a 2001 ford excursion gasoline version its been very reliable does anyone know from experience?

or someone they know about owning the new 350 or 450 super duty series??? I wasn't going to buy it to do anything with it like haul ,tow or 4 wheel just to drive I just fell in love with the truck and was wondering if reliability is as good as my excursion is??? please no american car bashers or ford bashers just facts if you know anything about ownership of these such as gas milage which is the least of my concern,cost to maintain it and reliability and how it performs in the snow . the one i really want is a f450 lariat super duty dually diesel .

Err, you want a 450 just to drive? I have a 250 Lariat and it is the same size except the dually and I like it, one of the best vehicles I ever had. A 450 gets worse mileage because of the lower gear ratio. A dually has issues with slick weather because the rear tires spread the load out. A 450 is made for a load, rides rougher because of that. I have had Powerstrokes since they came out and the 6.4 is the best one I have had, but the mileage is down from the 7.3 because of the particulate filter. I understand the desire for a 450, but a 250 is more practical, in my opinion, for a day to day truck. If you are going to tote a load, the 450 will shine, bigger tires, bigger brakes all make a trailer easier to deal with.

As far as reliability, earlier 6.4 strokes had a radiator problem that was addressed and a recall on the early ones. Mine was fixed with no hassles. The only reoccurring problem is the hood shock on the drivers side pops off once in a while and the hood is HEAVY.

I would buy another one in a heart beat
