How can i become a car mechanic or expert at the age of 13?
I love cars and i want to become a car expert, you know, like knowing all the car parts and where they are and knowing what to do if a car has trouble, with something. i try to talk to my dad about it, but all he says is "Study Well and get a good job".
You can do it if you want, but not at 13. Not professionally, anyway. It shouldn't stop you from learning now, though. The library should have manuals on car repair, and the internet has lots of information. Google (or Yahoo) search for "how a car works", "How an engine works" and so on, and you will get basics on them.
The actual repairs are a bit more concise, so it takes training to become professional, especially on the cars today. A lot of mechanics become "specialists" in one field, since cars are so complex.
Transmission repair alone is very diverse, with many different types of transmissions, automatic and standard stick shift. Automatic trans can have 3, 4, 5 or more shifts, and so can the the stick shift.
And the engines are very complex, compared to those years ago. Electronic and computer controlled systems.
So, it isn't just a "learn how to turn a wrench" type of thing, it is getting into knowing electrical circuits and other systems. computer, and fuel injection, power steering, and so on.
The best thing to do, is to start with basics, to understand how they work, and then you can learn "Why they work". What you learn in school, like mathematics and science, will help a lot. There is a lot of math in working on cars.
Enroll in a school auto repair class, they will give the basics and some more, perhaps.
But there are hundreds of cars, and hundreds of different systems, so to learn them all would take a lot of time. That is why you will see Ford mechanics, Chevy mechanics, Audi, VW, Mercedes, and so on. They specialize only on these cars, and not others. And if a person has a VW, most of the time, they have to take the car to a VW repair shop, for example.
Good luck on your venture...but don't rush it, take your time, and learn it well. It won't happen overnight, it is a big field and has a lot to learn in it.
And remember, you present schooling can help you with what it is teaching, now, like math.
