How much should it cost to replace 2002 Ford Taurus SES engine with parts and labor?
My Taurus has 190,000 miles on it and many problems. I have someone willing to replace engine with 40,000 mile engine and add necessary belts,etc. what should I expect to pay mechanic. (Its not a shop.) For all parts and labor? Could you break it down as well?

It varies so much for what people charge, The big question is can you afford to have it done? It will be almost like buying a new car but it's your old one, just in better condition. Many car lots will charge you at least $1500. just to get a car off the lot. and you will still have payments to make. So if you come out less then that then you are doing alright. Make sure they put new oil and filters on it and see if they can flush the transmission because with that many miles you are definitely due. ask for a new fuel filter too. You may get a personal loan from the bank or credit union or work out some sort of big money down and payment plan with the person doing the work. make a trade or something. I know it's hard on you when your car breaks down and life can be scary as hell. but hang in there and keep pushing. It will get better. It's hot out and people are very touchy so keep your cool. it will happen.
